BDIU sees significant decline in payment behaviour of private consumers and companies

According to a survey by the Association of German Debt Collection Agencies (BDIU), the Corona crisis has significantly worsened payment morale. More than ⅔ of private and commercial customers pay worse than before the crisis.
Liquidity bottlenecks due to short-time work and unemployment are cited as the main reason for late payments by private customers. In particular, sectors that have already been badly affected by corona measures, such as fitness studios, gastronomy and the hotel industry, are suffering.
According to the BDIU, these liquidity bottlenecks are also causing payments in B2B transactions to falter. In combination with a poorer order situation and low equity capital, many companies face the risk of insolvency.
